Jimmy Horner, 90, of Trenton, Texas, passed away on August 9, 2023 peacefully surrounded by family. He was born to parents Doris Koehler Horner and Burleson Ross Horner, on July 19, 1933 in Niederwald, Texas.

Jim grew up and attended school in Lockhart, Texas where he once worked at the world famous Kreuz Market which must have been where he learned to make the best brisket ever. Jim attended and graduated from The University of Texas in 1956 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. After graduation, he started with Westinghouse in Pittsburgh before making his way to Baltimore Maryland where he met and married the love of his life Norma Jean Sims. They were married on September 21,1957 in Halethorpe, Maryland. Jim and Jean moved to Garland, Texas in 1963 and together they raised 2 children: Kim Bailey, Steve Horner.

Jim spent the formidable years of his adult life making a home for his family. Despite the long hours and commutes for work, he never missed his children's events. He was an avid woodworker and there are many relatives that own a hobby horse that he would build. Jim and Jean loved to travel, especially cruising with a stop in the St. Thomas VI. Another favorite pastime was combining Square Dancing and traveling eventually Square Dancing in 48 out of 50 states. When not cruising he loved to visit Port Aransas with the family and grandkids steaming shrimp on the beach. He also loved to bet the ponies at Louisiana Downs.

Jim is survived by daughter, Kim Bailey; son, Steve Horner and his wife Darla of Dallas; grandson,  Chris Hanes and his wife Mandy of Van Alstyne; grandson, Michael Horner and his wife Cecilia of Bedford; grandson, Matthew Horner and wife Grace of Dallas; grandson, Dustin Bailey and wife Megan of Plano; granddaughter, Shanna Lynch and husband Tim; grandson, Tony Bailey and wife Candace of Oklahoma City; great-grandchildren, Madison and Colton Hanes, Tyler, Knox, Jaxon, Jessica, Brianna and Randi Bailey, Hanah and Brantley Lynch.
