Jimmy Lynn Verner

Dr. Jimmy Lynn Verner of McKinney, Texas passed away on January 4, 2018 at the age of 88. He was born on June 25, 1929 to Carl Winston and Ethel Minerva (Chastain) Verner in Ducktown, Tennessee. Jimmy married Betty Jean Smith on March 23, 1951 in Memphis, Tennessee. He served his country as a medical doctor in the United States Air Force and spent his career as a Pathologist. Jimmy was a lifelong learner and loved adventure. After his wife’s death in 2010, he learned to play violin, painted more than fifty water color paintings, and found his best artistic expression as an author. Jimmy is survived by his son, Jimmy Lynn Verner, Jr. and wife, Rochelle of Dallas, Texas; daughter, Jean Verner Goldmann and husband, Peter of McKinney, Texas; son, David Smith Verner and wife, Jennifer of Nashville, Tennessee; grandchildren, Patrick Joseph Verner, John Winston Verner, Mary Catherine Verner Campbell, Rebecca Lynn Goldmann, Ruby Lee Goldmann, Jennie Jouett Verner, Rebecca Jean Verner; great-grandchildren, Nolan, Ethan, Acadianna, Marianna; and numerous other family and friends. Jimmy was loved by many people and will be sorely missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl & Ethel Verner; and his wife, Betty Jean Verner.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 11, 2018 at St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church, 110 St. Gabriel Way, McKinney, Texas 75071.
