Jimmy Lee "Jim" McIntire

Funeral Services for Jimmy “Jim” Lee McIntire, 78 year old Leonard resident are scheduled for Thursday, January 24, 2019 at 1:00 P.M. at the Grove Hill United Methodist Church.  Rev. Willie Johnson and Michele McIntire will officiate.  Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery at Farmersville.  Family visitation will be Wednesday, January 23, 2019 from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel in Leonard.

Jim was born August 18, 1940 in Dallas, Texas.  His parents were Lonnie  and Dorothy.  He graduated from W.H. Adamson High School in 1958.  He married Peggy Ann Brewer April 22, 2001 at Grove Hill United Methodist Church.  Jim passed away Saturday January 19, 2019 at the Hunt Regional Medical Center in Greenville.

Jim had been active in ministry in the Methodist church since 1983 for a total of 35 years.  He was pastor at Verona Methodist Church from 1983-1991 and the Grove Hill United Methodist Church from 1991 until the present.  He was active in Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) from 1975 until the present, having sponsored too many individuals to count.  He was involved in law enforcement in Dallas and Leonard in the 1970s and 1980s.  He served as city judge over multiple cities for 28 plus years.  His favorite Bible verse was John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

Jim is survived by his wife:  Peggy McIntire of Leonard; his sons:  Bill McIntire of Ladonia and Robert Dee McIntire of North Richland Hills; his daughter:  Stacey McIntire of Dallas; his brothers and sisters:  Alta Gentry of Lindale, Joe Loving of Lufkin, Bobby G. Loving of Celeste, Cindy Arrington of Midlothian.  He is also survived by his 8 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson.

Jim was preceded in death by his grandparents:  Minnie and Ira Jordan, his parents:  Dorothy Loving and Lonnie McIntire, as well as by many aunts and uncles who were instrumental in rearing him.
