Jimmie Carl Honea

Aug 25 1944 - Oct 22 2024

Jimmie Carl Honea passed away on October 22, 2024, in McKinney, Texas. He was born in McKinney on August 25, 1944. In the last year he bravely fought liver disease. He passed away peacefully with his loving wife, Martha and many family members by his side. He is preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Jinnie Honea; brother, Rick Honea; brother-in-law, Bill Self; and brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Dorothy Wright. Along with two nieces, Lisa Hall and Carla Wright.

After serving his country in the US Army, he began a career in real estate appraisal. Jimmie was appointed Chief Appraiser for Collin Central Appraisal District and served until his retirement. He was honored and treasured by his time there. He was extremely proud and loved his staff of dedicated professionals.

Beyond his professional career, Jimmie enjoyed traveling with his wife and truly enjoyed his many family members including many nieces and nephews he had special bonds with.

Beyond family, most of Jimmie’s leisure time was spent on the golf course at Eldorado Country Club enjoying his favorite sport with golf buddies he admired and treasured as friends. Jimmie’s trademark for the course was his “red cap” and his nickname, Homeboy. Upon reaching home after a golf round he was delighted by the round —good or bad.

Jimmie and Martha shared a wonderful life together of 53 years. Together they traveled to golf resorts all over the country and enjoyed a life changing trip to the Holy Land in 2020.

Jimmie is survived by his beloved wife, Martha, sister, Mollie Self, and brother, Tom Honea and his spouse, Vickie, numerous sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, other loving family members, and cherished friends.
