Jim Monroe of Plano, Texas, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2025, at the age of 84. Born on February 18, 1940, in El Paso, Texas, to Jeff Bridges Monroe and Velma Doris (Brown) Monroe. Jim grew up in El Paso and graduated from El Paso Technical High School in his hometown.
After graduation, Jim began his professional career with Interstate Securities Corporation, where he worked for more than 20 years. It was during this time that he met the love of his life, Lynda Sue Monroe. They married on March 6, 1965, in El Paso, and were blessed with two children, Chris and Sheri.
Jim's career continued in the banking industry, where he worked for several banking institutions, ultimately serving as President for two different banks. He retired in his early 70s as a Fraud Analyst, but his legacy of hard work, dedication, and integrity left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
A man known for his loving, kind, and charitable nature, Jim had a wonderful sense of humor and a strong work ethic. He was always the one to take care of the needs around the house, and he gave generously to numerous charities. He was a proud member of the 10 Gallon Club with Carter BloodCare, regularly donating blood to help others. Jim was also a devoted member of Care Church in Richardson, Texas, for over 10 years, where he found a community of faith and fellowship.
Jim's love for his family was unwavering. He was deeply moved with joy when his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were born, finding new ways to cherish and support them. Above all, Jim and his beloved wife Lynda shared a strong, shared faith. Each morning, they began their day with prayers and devotionals, drawing strength from their deep love for the Lord.
Jim is survived by his wife Lynda Monroe of Plano, Texas; son, Chris Monroe and wife, Kim of Prospect, Kentucky; daughter, Sheri Spencer and husband, Rich of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren, Halen, Madison, Aaron, and Abbey; great-grandchildren, Mila, Dax, and Micah; brother, Ralph Monroe and wife, Pat of Mabank, Texas; and a host of extended family members and cherished friends who will miss him dearly. His memory will live on through the kindness he showed, the love he gave, and the legacy he leaves behind.
He was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter, Mallory Kirby.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon, Saturday, January 11, 2025 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.
