J.D. Glenn of McKinney, Texas passed away August 13, 2021 at the age of 88. He was born on November 1, 1932 to J.D. Glenn, Sr. and Essie (Thomas) Glenn in Quanah, Texas. His childhood and young adult years were spent in Quanah where he played football, played drums in the band, and enjoyed a nice small town quality of life. J.D. was a 1951 graduate of Quanah High School. From there, he went into the United States Air Force and served his country proudly during the Korean Conflict. J.D. was also an instructor at Chanute Field in Champaign, Illinois. Upon his discharge, he enrolled at Texas Tech University and graduated with a degree in dairy technology in 1961. While at Texas Tech, he met his wife, Suzanne “Suzie” Wetsel and they married in 1960. J.D. and Suzie have enjoyed 61 years of marriage and they were blessed with two children. In 2018, he and Suzie moved to McKinney from Beaumont, Texas where they had lived for 49 years to be closer to family. They enjoyed the city and the joys of retirement. His work history was varied. With his degree in diary technology, he worked in management with Borden’s Milk Co. for seven years. J.D. then switched careers to work for American General Insurance as a claims manager, until retirement. He also worked for Texas Home Health for another period of years in Risk Management. J.D. was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friends. He will be missed dearly by those who knew and loved him.
J.D. is survived by his beloved wife, Suzie Glenn of McKinney, Texas; son, Brian Denson Glenn and wife, Kerry; grandchildren, Bryce, Lexie, and Kaden Glenn; all of McKinney, Texas; niece, Mary Lynn, and nephews, Joel, Jay, and Matt Glenn; brother-in-law, Ron Todd of Cloudcroft, New Mexico; nephew, David Todd; and nieces, Cathy Gaffney and Amy Nelson; and a host of other loving family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.D. Glenn, Sr., in-laws, Mr. and Mrs. C.S. Wetsel, daughter, Karen Beth Glenn; and brother, James Glenn.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 18 2021 at First United Methodist Church, 315 North Church Street, McKinney, Texas 75069.
A graveside inurnment with Military Honors will be held at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas 75211 at a later date. Information to be updated shortly.
The family will receive friends during a remembrance gathering on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.
