Commander Jethro White Jr.

Jethro White Jr., age 77, of McKinney, Texas, passed away Saturday, September 29, 2018.  He was born Monday, April 7, 1941, in Houston, Texas, to Georgia Lavern (Idlebird) and Reverend Jethro White Sr.  Jethro married the love of his life, Kay (Cann) White, in Shreveport, Louisiana, on October 5, 1970, and they had two beautiful children.  He did undergraduate work at the University of Texas at Austin, Texas A&M University in College Station and earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Prairie View A&M University.  Later he earned his Master’s Degree from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Jethro had a successful career as a Mechanical Engineer in the Chemical industry. 

Jethro served in the United States Marine Corps Reserve and later in the United States Navy Reserve earning the distinguished rank of Commander.  He was initiated into Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated at the University of Texas in Austin on October 27, 1961. 

Jethro is survived by his children, Connie Zeigler, and her husband, Chris, of Prosper, Texas; and Darryl White of New Orleans, Louisiana; and Victor Phillips of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; his grandchildren, Jamie Zeigler and Jessica Jones; his great-grandchildren, Jessie Jones and Jess’iah Jones; six siblings, Laura E. Medlock and her husband, Ardell, of Houston, Texas; Rev. James E. White and his wife, Toni, of Huntsville, Texas; Doyle E. White and his wife, Patsy, of Friendswood, Texas; Gladys M. Sterling and her husband, Charles, of Houston, Texas; Ronald L. White and his wife, Sharon, of DeSoto, Texas; and Alfred B. White and his wife, Judith, of Dallas, Texas; two brothers-in-law, Alfred Brown and his wife, Tess, of Las Vegas, Nevada and Robert Cann of Shreveport, Louisiana; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family and friends. 

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Kay White, and his parents, Reverend Jethro and Georgia White Sr. 

The family invites friends to a Visitation held at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Frisco on Friday, October 5, 2018, from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.  The Funeral Service will be held at Stonebridge United Methodist Church, 1800 S. Stonebridge Dr., McKinney, Texas, on Saturday, October 6, 2018, beginning at 1:00 p.m., officiated by Reverend Jeff Lust.  Interment at DFW National Cemetery Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at 11:00 a.m.   

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to an organization that was dear to Jethro, Seabee Memorial Scholarship Association, Inc., P. O. Box 667, Gulfport, Mississippi 39502-0667 in memory of Jethro White, Jr.
