Jesus Olvera, age 85, of McKinney, Texas, passed away August 31, 2017. Mr. Olvera was born December 13, 1931, in Corpus Christi, Texas, to Felipe and Angelina (Vasquez) Olvera. He was a family man who loved his children dearly, was a giving man, and was loyal to his church, Templo Adoracion y Alabanza. Mr. Olvera enjoyed eating out with his children, but he especially loved home cooked Mexican food. He raised ten children on his own after he became a widow in 1970.
He is survived by his sons, Oscar Olvera, Javier Olvera, Joel Olvera, Juan Olvera, Peter Olvera, Paul Olvera, all of McKinney, Texas; daughters, Norma Olvera, also of McKinney, Beatrice Martinez of St. Paul, Texas, and Minerva Gallardo of McKinney; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and brother, Reynaldo Olvera, also of McKinney.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Trinidad R. Olvera, daughter, Olga Gallardo, and five siblings.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 Noon, Wednesday, September 6, 2017, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen. The family will receive friends during a visitation from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
