Jerry L. Taylor

Jerry L. Taylor of McKinney, Texas passed away February 1, 2021 at the age of 74. He was born December 25, 1946 to Scott Ferris and Dorothy Wilma (Seidl) Taylor in Frederick, Oklahoma. Jerry attended Chattanooga High School in Chattanooga, Oklahoma. He then went on to receive his BS in Mechanical Engineering from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. Jerry worked with Texas Instruments starting in 1968 as a draftsman. He worked on many projects and worked with the radar group at Raytheon until his retirement in 2012. He married Cynthia Ann Justus on September 1, 1987 in Plano, Texas. In his spare time he enjoyed working in his shop, tinkering and building on his cars; he also enjoyed meeting up with the Morning Maniacs, a Classic Car Enthusiest group that meets every Saturday morning for breakfast and cars in McKinney, Texas. His greatest joy was spending time with his kids, grandkids and great-grandkids.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Cynthia Ann Taylor of McKinney, Texas; children, Clayton Taylor and wife, Bobbi of Nevada, Texas, Kristi Peters and husband, Doug of Melissa, Texas, Anisa Long and husband, Kyle of Ft. Worth, Texas, Megan Taylor and partner, Steve of McKinney, Texas and Jeremy Taylor of McKinney, Texas; sister, Karen Batton of Lawton, Oklahoma; niece, Vickie Stowe and husband, Darryl of Duke, Oklahoma; nephew, Mark Champion of Lawton, Oklahoma; niece, Jessica Justice of Melissa, Texas; brother-in-law & sister-in-law, Dale and Gina Justus of Sherman, Texas; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Scott Ferris and Dorothy Wilma (Seidl) Taylor; grandson, Hayden Clark; brother, Scott Taylor, Jr. and infant brother, Larry Taylor. 

A “come and go” visitation will be held on Thursday, February 4, 2021, from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home. Only a limited number of guests will be allowed to enter the funeral home facility at any one time to maintain social distancing.

In support of our local, state, and federal govt including CDC directives and to protect the physical health, safety and well-being of our community, only a limited number of guests will be allowed to attend the Funeral Service.

A funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Friday, February 5, 2021, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas. The service will also be live streamed at TJMfuneral.com on Jerry’s obituary page by clicking on the following link: https://celebrationoflife.tv/blog/jerry-l-taylor. After the service, the recorded live stream will be available for viewing at the same link location.

However, when the maximum number of guests are reached, those who would like to honor Jerry and show their support to his family may remain at the funeral home in your vehicle, where you can watch the live streamed service on your personal device (laptop, tablet or smartphone) or listen through a designated FM radio channel.

Following the funeral service, a procession will make its way to Ridgeview Memorial Park for a committal service where all are invited to attend the committal service maintaining social distancing or you may remain in your vehicle. You will be able to listen to the service through speakers set up at the gravesite.
