Jerry Wayne Hart

Mr. Jerry Wayne Hart of Farmersville passed away peacefully at his residence December 5, 2018. Jerry was born October 3, 1932 in Venus, Texas, the son of L. C. and Claudia Greenway Hart. Jerry attended school in Farmersville and was a graduate of the Class of 1950. He then attended the University of North Texas. Jerry was owner of Hart Insurance and Real Estate in Farmersville for many years. He married Glenda Coker May 23, 1953 in Farmersville, Texas at the First United Methodist Church. Jerry wore many hats in Farmersville serving as the chairman of the Senior Citizens Committee, a member of the Scottish Rite and Hella Temple Lodges, past member of the Farmersville Economic Committee 4B, past master of the Farmersville Masonic Lodge and was awarded his 50 year pin. As an active businessman in the community, Jerry also served two terms as city councilman, and 25 years as a volunteer for the Farmersville Fire Department. He was a board member of the Farmersville Heritage Museum, a member the Farmersville Historical Society, the president of the Farmersville Chamber of Commerce for six years, a trustee at the First United Methodist Church, a board member of the Ex Students Association, director of the Farmersville Housing Authority for 21 years, past president of the Farmersville Rotary Club and was awarded the Paul Harris Fellow Award. Jerry served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a lover of the outdoors – an avid traveler, golfer, hunter, and fisherman. The Mossy Hole was his favorite spot for crappie. But the greatest love of his life was Glenda, his wife of 65 years. Because of his devotion and love of his family and his service to his community, Jerry leaves a legacy of love that will be treasured by all who were blessed to know him. Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Glenda of Farmersville and children Stacy Foley and husband Jimmy of Celeste, Texas, son, Casey Hart and wife Suzanne of Murphy, Texas and grandchildren; Ashley Holland and husband Wesley of Farmersville, Caleb Coleman and wife Jennifer of Rowlett,  and Logan Hart and Landon Hart of Murphy. Jerry is also survived by four great-grandchildren; Cooper Holland, Bella Holland, Beau Holland and Cove Coleman. A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, December 8, 2018 at 1:00 PM at the First United Methodist Church in Farmersville with Dr. Reverend Greg Neal and Dr. Reverend Vic Casad officiating. The family will receive friends following the service downstairs at the First United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, he requested for contributions to be made to the Farmersville Ex Students Association.
