Jerry Wayne Hart

October 3, 1932 - December 5, 2018

Mr. Jerry Wayne Hart of Farmersville passed away peacefully at his residence December 5, 2018. Jerry was born October 3, 1932 in Venus, Texas, the son of L. C. and Claudia Greenway Hart. Jerry attended school in Farmersville and was a graduate of the Class of 1950. He then attended the University of North Texas. Jerry was owner of Hart Insurance and Real Estate in Farmersville for many years. He married Glenda Coker May 23, 1953 in Farmersville, Texas at the First United Methodist Church. Jerry wore many hats in Farmersville serving as the chairman of the Senior Citizens Committee, a member of the Scottish Rite and Hella Temple Lodges, past member of the Farmersville Economic Committee 4B, past master of the Farmersville Masonic Lodge and was awarded his 50 year pin. As an active businessman in the community, Jerry also served two terms as city councilman, and 25 years as a volunteer for the Farmersville Fire Department. He was a board member of the Farmersville Heritage Museum, a member the Farmersville Historical Society, the president of the Farmersville Chamber of Commerce for six years, a trustee at the First United Methodist Church, a board member of the Ex Students Association, director of the Farmersville Housing Authority for 21 years, past president of the Farmersville Rotary Club and was awarded the Paul Harris Fellow Award. Jerry served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a lover of the outdoors – an avid traveler, golfer, hunter, and fisherman. The Mossy Hole was his favorite spot for crappie. But the greatest love of his life was Glenda, his wife of 65 years. Because of his devotion and love of his family and his service to his community, Jerry leaves a legacy of love that will be treasured by all who were blessed to know him. Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Glenda of Farmersville and children Stacy Foley and husband Jimmy of Celeste, Texas, son, Casey Hart and wife Suzanne of Murphy, Texas and grandchildren; Ashley Holland and husband Wesley of Farmersville, Caleb Coleman and wife Jennifer of Rowlett,  and Logan Hart and Landon Hart of Murphy. Jerry is also survived by four great-grandchildren; Cooper Holland, Bella Holland, Beau Holland and Cove Coleman. A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, December 8, 2018 at 1:00 PM at the First United Methodist Church in Farmersville with Dr. Reverend Greg Neal and Dr. Reverend Vic Casad officiating. The family will receive friends following the service downstairs at the First United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, he requested for contributions to be made to the Farmersville Ex Students Association.

Kay & Mark Magar, Robyn & Drew Fujarski, Keith Magar, December 8, 2018 To me, this is truly an end of an era. The times I have shared with Jerry about anywhere we ran upon each other, there was a long discussion about Farmersville history and the Civil War. I loved those times and the get togethers that ended up in his home. Invited by myself, the first time, those wonderful times started becoming a great time continuing the conversations. Only it got better because we had Glinda to keep us straight, and join in. I don’t have the words to say, Glinda, to tell you how sorry I am for you and all your family. I can only imagine, as great a man as Jerry, how sad a time this is for you. But knowing you, I know the Lord is right there with you comforting you all. And at the same time God is enjoying and celebrating Jerry’s coming home to Him.. God bless you and your beautiful family.
Johnny Redwine , December 8, 2018 What a wonderful man and legacy he leaves for each of you. Farmersville...beginning to end. Lived there, went to school there, dated and married there, had and raised his family there, loved, cried, learned how to live and share there, worked there, and made it a better place every day he did. Jerry and Glenda ...inseparable, ..the team, ...the handsome, good-looking couple ...the friendly in Farmersville ...the music at any event ...the strong, welcoming handshake and hug to new and old friends, ...and so many events, celebrations, games, homecomings, marriages, births, and homegoings. Attended. They were there in spirit and reassuring love for so many, for a lifetime. We appreciated it and offer our love, heart-felt concern, condolences, thoughts, and prayers as Jerry, you...Glenda, Stacey, Casey, and family have always done for each of us. Mom loved Jerry as her classmate throughout school and she and Dad have always adored Glenda. What wonderful stewards they have been for the community, church, businesses, historical society, ex-students association, and more. Jerry will be missed, thought of often, will bring a smile to our faces, laughter of times past, cross our thoughts and hearts forever, and remembered for the positive, good-spirited, love he had and expressed to each of us. Family and friends were cherished and loved gems. God bless and keep him and each of you until you/we meet again. Amen. Phil 4:13 keep the faith, you will see him again, this time with no goodbyes ever...won't that be grand?
