Jerry L. Allen passed away January 10, 2023 in Dallas, Texas at the age of 86. He was born to Henry Jefferson and Emma Louisa (Hassell) Allen on October 2, 1936 in Telephone, Texas.
He attended Honey Grove High School in Honey Grove, Texas, and graduated from Arlington State College. Jerry married his wife, Mary Ann Sutton on May 26, 1956 in Telephone, Texas. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Plano, Texas for 39 years.
Jerry worked for Magnolia Oil, Mobil Oil from 1955-1968, Cabot Corporation from 1968-1983, and Cox Oil. He was a past member of Toastmasters in Pampa, Texas. Jerry was also an avid golfer, tennis player, and writer.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Mary Ann Allen of Dallas, Texas; son, Jerry L. Allen, Jr. and wife, Judy of Waco, Texas; daughter, Cynthia Ann Barter of Fairview, Texas; grandchildren, Joey Turner and wife, Emily of Plano, Texas, Jonathan Allen and wife, Amanda of Monument, Colorado, Jenny Dillard and husband Josh of Grapevine, Texas, and Julianna Allen of Washington D.C.; great grandchildren, Emma and Sara Turner, Cora and Bridger Allen, and Kylee, Caleb, and Kelsey Dillard.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Jefferson Allen and Emma Louisa Hassell, brother, Billy Jack Allen, and son-in-law, Arthur Barter.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, January 14, 2023 at First Baptist Church of Plano in Plano, Texas. The family will receive guests for a visitation from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Friday evening, January 13, 2023 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.
