IN LOVING MEMORY

Jerry J. Palla

Jun 11 1936 - Nov 02 2023

Jerry J. Palla, a resident of McKinney, Texas, passed away on November 2, 2023. He was born on June 11, 1936, in Chicago, Illinois to John K. Palla and Mary (Simonides) Palla. Raised in Chicago, Jerry's childhood was filled with joyful memories, including playing Monopoly and other board games with his future wife, Nancy.

Jerry went on to pursue higher education and earned his Bachelor of Arts in Engineering from the University of Illinois.  His love for his country led him to proudly serve in the United States Army for two years before being honorably discharged.  Jerry's dedication to his country continued as he joined the Department of Defense, where he contributed his skills for a remarkable 30 years.  His work allowed him to travel extensively throughout the world, broadening his horizons and nurturing his adventurous spirit. Jerry retired in 1994 and started a second career consulting, which he pursued until his second retirement in 2004.  Following this, Jerry and Nancy made the decision to relocate to Texas to be closer to their beloved grandchildren.

One of Jerry's greatest enjoyments in life was golf.  For nearly 20 years, he dedicated his time to perfecting his swing and enjoying the beauty of the golf course.  Jerry's enthusiasm for the sport was contagious, and he often found himself in the company of fellow golf buddies. Jerry had a zest for life and a love for travel. Whether it was embarking on exciting RV adventures or exploring new destinations on luxurious cruises, he cherished every opportunity to experience new cultures, cuisines, and create lasting memories.

As age gracefully caught up with him in his later years, Jerry found solace in quieter pursuits. He spent more time reading and staying up to date with current events by avidly watching the news.

Jerry will be remembered for his vibrant personality and warm heart. He never met a stranger and took genuine interest in everyone he encountered. Jerry was incredibly outgoing and loved to engage in lively conversations.

Jerry Joseph Palla leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. He will be deeply missed by his adoring wife Nancy, his children, grandchildren, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy Ann Palla of McKinney, Texas; daughters, Marjorie Kyle Palla of Frederick, Maryland, Jane Elizabeth Palla of Westminster, Maryland, Laura Ann Bosman and husband, Andrew of Boulder, Colorado, and Jennifer Clanton Mays and husband, Charles of Stevensville, Maryland; former wife, Kyle Sanders Palla of Westminster, Maryland; grandchildren, Charles IV, Hayley, Madeline, and Randall; and numerous other loving family and friends.
