Jerry Allen Shipp

Jerry Allen Shipp of Princeton, Texas passed away peacefully at home on October 14, 2019 at the age of 78, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 19, 1940 to Coy Overstreet and Valerie (Albright) Overstreet in Dallas, Texas.  Jerry grew up in Dallas, Texas and was later adopted by his step-father, Otis Shipp. He married Sarah Ann Lewis on January 19, 1960 in Dallas, Texas. Jerry spent most of his career as an auto mechanic, spending many years at Sam Pack Ford.  He owned a Phillips 66 and Shell gas stations in the early 70’s. Jerry’s first love was his family, but he loved all people, bowling and dirt track racing.  He was a lifelong Texas Rangers fan.  Jerry loved his church family at Westminster Baptist Church, where he was a member.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Sarah A. Shipp of Princeton, Texas; daughter, Debbie Morrison and husband, Randy of Westminster, Texas; sons, Danny Shipp and wife, Stephanie of Bastrop, Texas and Donnie Shipp and wife, Rae’Lene of Princeton, Texas; grandchildren, Jeremy Robinson and wife, Brandy, Jennifer Scrofano and husband, Michael, Shelby Weathers, Barton Weathers and wife, Hannah, Dylan Shipp, Calee Shipp and Taylor Kennedy; great-grandchildren, Cayden Rawlinson, Madisyn Serna, Lucas Scrofano, Natalie McClintock, Beckham Stanzione, Jax Stanzione, Brody Weathers and Hayes Weathers; brothers-in-law, Rick Lewis and wife, Angela of Princeton, Texas and Bob Lewis of Kaufman, Texas; one sister; one step-sister; one step-brother; and many nephews, nieces and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his biological father, Coy Overstreet; and his parents; Otis & Valerie Shipp.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, October 17, 2019 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas.  Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen.  The family will receive friends during a visitation on Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
