Jerold Litton Burchfield

May 2, 1936 - April 20, 2013

Jerold Litton Burchfield, age 76, of Allen, Texas passed away April 20, 2013. He was born May 2, 1936 in Dayton, Ohio to Helen (McKinney) Burchfield and Floyd Robert Burchfield. On March 2, 1956 he married Emily Saunders in San Diego, California. Jerry proudly served in the United States Marine Corp. He worked as a telecommunications engineer for 31 years, and played a huge role in the design and implementation of the 911 emergency system we have today. He was a private pilot and a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association and built his own airplane.

He is survived by his wife, Emily Burchfield of Allen, Texas; daughters, Linda Clark and husband, Paul of League City, Texas,  Nancy Maki and husband, Toby of Riverside, California; son, John Burchfield of San Diego, California; grandchildren, Davy Leighton, Ben Sparkman, Mandy Castillo, Michael Lee, Jeremy Lee and Scott Lee; great-grandchildren, Evan Castillo and Adrian Lee; sisters, Patricia Brown of San Diego, California and Karol Boyd of Joliet, Illinois; brother, John Burchfield of Melbourne, Florida and numerous nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, April 29, 2013 in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel with Dr. Danny Buster officiating. Interment will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, Dallas, Texas.

Family and friends are invited to the funeral home at their convenience on Sunday to pay their respects and to sign the register book.
