Jeong Nam Kwon, 76, died Thursday, March 12, 2020 at a hospital in Plano, Texas after a yearlong battle with pancreatic cancer. Prior to her death she resided in Allen, Texas with her family. She was born on November 22,1944 in Kaesong, Korea to Yong Taek Han and Ok Jeom Bae. Jeong received a bachelor’s degree from Sookmyung University in 1968. She married Tae Suk Kwon September 18, 1971. Jeong immigrated to the United States with her husband and two sons in the summer of 1981. While working at Sky Chefs and running a small business, she raised two children. She was a devout member of the St. Andrew Kim Catholic Church. Her life was consumed by her passion to serve the family that she loved. She had a love for nature which she expressed through gardening and her bond with her dog. Her beloved Labrador, Annie, died five days before Jeong’s death.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Tae; her elder son and wife, Peter and Lillian; her younger son and wife, Bobby and Hyojin; her grandchildren, Austin, Ray, Elle, and Max; her step-grandchildren, Reagan and Sydney; her three sisters and two brothers; and multiple other cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Jeong was preceded in death by her father, mother, eldest brother, and second eldest sister.
Private services will be held on Tuesday, March 17, 2020.
