Jeffrey Lyn Cole passed away September 24, 2023 in McKinney, Texas at the age of 78. He was born to Wesley and Beulah (Zimmerman) Cole on June 8, 1945 in Sac City, Iowa.

Jeff will be fondly remembered as an engaging “Papa” always attending his grand boys’ games, and special events. He was an avid card player- Poker, Euchre, Cribbage just to name a few of his favorite games. He loved to read and visited the local library almost weekly. He volunteered at the Heritage Farmstead Museum after he retired where he was a docent for 11 years and fed apples to his favorite donkey, Poncho.

He loved to recall his idyllic childhood on his Iowa family farm with his brother, Jerry, and his many cousins and uncles.

He joined the Air Force to serve his country in 1967 and after basic training, and tech school he married the love of his life, Sharon Cole on February 3, 1968, in his hometown, Sac City, Iowa and immediately afterwards went to Edwards Air Force base in California where he tested rocket engines. Jason, their first son was born in 1970.

In 1973, Jeff began working for Fisher Controls in Marshalltown, Iowa. Soon after, his second son, Adam Cole was born. Later, he and his family of four were transferred to McKinney, Texas and placed their roots in Allen, Texas.

He retired as Director of Marketing at Fisher Controls in 2003 after 30 years.

Jeff and Sharon loved to travel together and had many adventures all over the world. But their favorite, and best adventure was spending time with their grand boys – Brenner, Jack, Grant, and Ryan Cole.

He will be deeply missed – the stories of Iowa, his nostalgia for the 50’s, and his sweet demeanor and gentle kindness with everyone he met.
