Jeffrey Lee Minshew formerly of McKinney, Texas was born on March 29, 1958 in Denton, Texas to Gary and Bobbye Jack (Chandler) Minshew. He passed away July 5, 2021 in White Sands National Park in New Mexico.
Jeff grew up in McKinney, Texas and attended McKinney schools. He participated in little league baseball, pass, punt and kick contests, and the Boy Scouts, where he was awarded the Order of the Arrow and became a Life Scout. Jeff graduated from McKinney High School in 1976, where he played trombone in the band, participated in football, and served as president of his junior class.
Jeff received an associate degree from Grayson County Junior College, a degree in Marketing from the University of North Texas, and a BS in Nursing and RN degree from Texas Woman’s University. He was working as a nurse at Lovelace Heart Hospital in Albuquerque, New Mexico, at the time of his death.
Jeff joined the First Methodist Church in McKinney at an early age and attended regularly while living in McKinney. He loved the outdoors, animals, birds, and nature of all kinds. Jeff was very outgoing and made friends easily.
He is survived by his parents, Gary and Bobbye Jack Minshew; brother, Robert Minshew and wife, Irma; niece, Autumn Minshew Leach and husband, Bruce; nephew, Koty Johnson and wife, Audrey, nephew, Casey Smith and Brittany; aunt, Terrye Hernandez and husband, Rudy, great-aunt, Billie Isbell; numerous cousins, other loving family members, and friends.
Jeff was preceded in death by grandparents, Gardell and Evelyn Chandler, Glen and Ida Minshew; aunt and uncle, Margaret and Roger McAdams; uncles, Tommy Isbell and Richard L. Minshew; and cousin, Hope Organ.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 17, 2021 at First Methodist Church, 315 North Church Street, McKinney, Texas 75069.
