IN LOVING MEMORY

Jeanne Pike

Aug 30 1936 - Mar 27 2023

Jeanne Margaret Pike, 86, of McKinney, TX, peacefully passed away on March 27th, 2023 after several years of struggling with Parkinson’s disease.

Jeanne was born on August 30th, 1936 at 9:20p to Clarence and Tora Vollman at University Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio.  She was an only child.  Growing up Jeanne had many interests, primarily in ballet and ice skating, both of which she did for 14+ years.  She also took piano and flute lessons at an early age and became very proficient at both, participating in state solo and ensemble music contests as a flutist.  After graduating from Shaker Heights High School in 1954, she went on to study music at Baldwin Wallace College in Cleveland, graduating with a Bachelors degree in 1958, majoring in Music Education, and minoring in English.  During her time at BW, she was rush secretary in the Alpha Xi Delta sorority and a member of the college orchestra.  She also spent time traveling abroad throughout Europe in 1956.

In middle school she met George W Pike, who she began dating in high school and would later marry on December 28th, 1957 in Santa Monica, California.  They had two son’s, George Eric (b.1959) and James Gregory (b.1962) and were blessed with two granddaughters, Margot Kristine Deatherage (b.1996) and Meredith Georgia Pike (b.1999).

After both children started school Jeanne began a long and successful career in contracts administration at Consolidated Controls Corporation in 1966.  She retired in 1990 as the head of contracts for the company.  Jeanne and her family lived in the Los Angeles area for almost 40 years.

Her love for music led her to becoming choir director of Bethel #122 in the International Order of Job's Daughters, which she did for more than 15 years from the late 1960’s to the early 1980’s.  She later joined the Sweet Adelines.  Jeanne also loved to garden, and really enjoyed traveling with family across the US and abroad, by car, plane and cruise ship.

In retirement she and her husband moved to Taylors, SC and lived there for 25 years before moving to Grand Brooke Memory Care facility in McKinney, TX, close to one of her son’s.

Jeanne had a full life, filled with many successes both personally and professionally.   She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and warmly greeted all she came into contact with.  Her light in the world will be missed.

She is survived by her husband, two sons, daughter-in-law, Peggy, and two granddaughters.

She will be interred at the Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, TX.
