IN LOVING MEMORY

Jeanne Ann Lowes

Feb 13 1938 - Aug 10 2023

Jeanne Anne Lowes of McKinney, Texas, departed this world on August 10, 2023, at the age of 85. Born on February 13, 1938, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, to the late James Travis and Louise E. (Gockel) Childress, Jeanne's life was one of love, generosity, and artistic expression.

On June 3, 1961, in Fort Worth, Texas, Jeanne exchanged vows with Guy Alvin Lowes Sr., a union that would define the course of her life. Jeanne was not just a devoted wife, but also a caring and nurturing mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Jeanne's legacy was deeply intertwined with her passion for education. As a high school math teacher, she dedicated many years to shaping young minds. Beyond the classroom, she had a remarkable gift for identifying and addressing the needs of those around her. Whether it was within the walls of a school or outside in the community, Jeanne's willingness to help knew no bounds.

In her moments of leisure, Jeanne found solace and creativity in crafting. Knitting, crocheting, and quilting were not just hobbies for her – they were expressions of love and artistry. She also shared her voice through church choirs, touching the hearts of many with her gift of singing.

After retiring from her teaching career, Jeanne embraced a new role as a technical pattern writer for Leisure Arts, using her expertise to educate and inspire others in the realms of knitting and crocheting. Her passion for these crafts was evident throughout her life as she continued to teach and encourage others to explore their creative sides.

However, above all, Jeanne cherished her family. Playing cards and board games with loved ones were among her favorite pastimes, creating memories that would be treasured for generations. She was also an active member of Stonebridge United Methodist Church in McKinney.

Jeanne leaves behind her devoted husband, Guy Alvin Lowes, Sr. of McKinney, Texas; her loving children, Guy Alvin Lowes, Jr. and wife, Cyndee of Logan, West Virginia, James Andrew (Andy) Lowes and wife, Kristine of McKinney, Texas, and William M. (Will) Lowes and wife, Bridget of Collierville, Tennessee. Her memory is also carried on by her grandchildren, Braden M. Lowes and wife Viona, Brooke Sutter and husband, Mark, Emma Lowes and fiancé, Weston Wimberly, Zachary G. Lowes, Audrey Lowes, Daniel Dial, Michael and wife Amanda Stone, Brittney Stone, Arielle Stone, and Alisa and husband Li Cheng. Her great-grandchildren include Nora Lowes, Arber Lowes, Kaylee Stone, Sophia Stone, Naomi Godfrey, and Kylan Salliey.

Jeanne’s spirit lives on in the hearts of those she touched. Her legacy of love, kindness, and creativity will forever be cherished and remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know her.

A memorial service to celebrate Jeanne's life will take place at 1:00 p.m., September 3, 2023 at Ford and Sons Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
