IN LOVING MEMORY

Jeanette Clifton

Jul 21 1940 - Jul 31 2018

Veona “Jeanette” (Woods) Clifton, 78, of Farmersville, TX, passed away unexpectedly on July 31, 2018.  She was born July 21, 1940 in Blanco, Texas to William Nelson and Veoma Nell (Calentine) Woods.  She married the love of her life, Bobbie Frank Clifton, on her 16th birthday, July 21, 1956 in Carlsbad, NM, and they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary two months before Bob lost his battle to cancer on September 23, 2006.  They settled in Farmington, NM in 1960, where they lived for over 46 years and raised their two children.  Once the children were grown, she started an upholstery business where she reupholstered lots of restaurant booths, church pews, couches, chairs and a few boats.  She was in a bowling league and loved to bowl, mostly for the camaraderie and friendship she had with her bowling buddies.  In 2006, she and Bob bought a house in Farmersville, TX, but he lost his battle with cancer before they could make the move together.  In 2008, Jeanette sold the home they had built together and where they raised their children and moved to her new home in Farmersville.  She became an active member of Wylie United Methodist Church and the Rockwall YMCA, a volunteer at the Wylie Christian Care Center, and you could always count on her to fill your Sam’s Club shopping needs on Tuesdays.

Jeanette is survived by her two children, William “Bill” Warren Clifton, wife Michelle, of La Plata, NM, and Wynda Wynett (Clifton) McGarity, husband Patrick, of Farmersville, TX.  Grandchildren, Bryan Warren Clifton, wife Alana, of Farmington, Bradley Warren Clifton, Brayden Warren Clifton, both of La Plata, and TSgt Thomas “Colin” McGarity, of Columbia, SC.  Great-grandchildren Brantley Warren Clifton, of Farmington, Camden Thomas McGarity and Madelyn Elizabeth McGarity, both of Columbia, SC.  Brothers, William Nelson Woods Jr., wife Nita, of Mansfield, TX and Wayne Walter Calentine Jr., wife Ellen, of Carlsbad, NM.  She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
