Alma Jean Bettis Smith, age 98, of Merit, passed away Wednesday evening, March 24, 2021, in Greenville, TX.
She was born on March 29, 1922 to John P. Bettis and Molly Newton in Paden, Oklahoma.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband of 19 years, V.B. Smith; husband of 27 years, Robert Green; husband of 11 years, Coy Smith; daughter Carlene Foster; and several brothers and sisters.
She was a member of the Church of Christ, and a natural caregiver. She was a certified LVN, and enjoyed fishing, crocheting, gardening and cooking, and spending time with her family and friends.
Jean is survived by her daughter, Glenda Brookshire and husband Bill of Merit, Texas; son, Gary Smith of Merit, Texas; daughter-in-law, Mary Lawrence of Farmersville, Texas; Carlene’s husband Frank Foster of Russellville, Arkansas; sister, Jewel Barfield of Sallisaw, Oklahoma; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will miss her greatly.
A Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 28, 2021 at Hurst’s Fielder-Baker Funeral Home in Farmersville, Texas.
The Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 29, 2021 at Church of Christ in Farmersville, Texas.
The Graveside will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 in Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery in Canadian, Texas.
Jean’s family will serve as Pallbearers. Condolences may be sent to the family at the Funeral home.
