Jean Oswald

Jean Gesine Oswald, age 77, of Plano, Texas, passed away May 12, 2016.  She was born February 22, 1939, in Brooklyn, New York to Howard Alexander Wiesener, Sr. and Elsie (Tietjen) Wiesener.  Jean worked at Briarwood Retreat Center and was known as “Mama Jean”.  She was a member and Lay leader of Resurrection Lutheran Church in Plano, Texas and served in many ways.  Jean was a strong, understanding woman that was loved by everyone.

She is survived by her son, Michael Richards and wife Susan of Plano, Texas; daughters, Patricia Bachman and husband Kevin of McKinney, Texas, Alison Oswald-Keene and husband Richard of Glendale, Arizona, Jill DeVillar of The Colony, Texas; 7 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; sisters, Elsie Roesch of Glens Falls, New York, Kay Ritter also of Glens Falls, New York; and brother, Howard Wiesener and wife Jennifer of Naples, Florida.

Jean is preceded in death by her parents, Howard Alexander and Elsie Wiesener; first husband, Edward Richards; and second husband, Lamont Jackie “Jack” Oswald.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, May 15, 2016 at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 1919 Independence Parkway, Plano, Texas 75075.  The family will receive friends during a visitation being held from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., Saturday evening at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.  A private graveside service will be held at DFW National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas.
