Jean McDaniel, of Plano, Texas, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2026, at the age of 82. Jean was born on September 23, 1943, in Santa Monica, California, to loving parents William Robert Hood and Jessie Vaunita (Moody) Hood.
On March 8, 1963, Jean married the love of her life, the late Mac McDaniel, in Fort Worth, Texas. Their partnership was a beautiful testament to love and devotion.
Jean was a Christ believer who found her greatest joy spending time with her family and was a constant source of love, encouragement and strength. A lifelong lover of sports, she faithfully rooted for her favorite teams and rarely missed a game. Known to many as “Granny”, she could always be found cheering on her family and friends.
Jean dedicated 30 years of service to Plano Independent School District where she touched countless lives. She had a warm, caring spirit that brought joy and laughter to each soul she encountered.
A beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Jean will always be remembered in the hearts of her loved ones. Her legacy lives on through all who knew her.
Jean is survived by her son, Mark (Angelique); daughter, Lynn (Eric); grandchildren, Priscilla, Marissa (Grant), Rachel, and Collin; great-grandchildren Roman and Benjamin; and a host of other loving family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 19, 2026 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.
