Jazmin Chie Smith-Sheriff of Rockwall, Texas, passed away on November 9, 2024, at the age of 33. She was born on September 3, 1991, in Santa Monica, California, Jazmin was the beloved daughter of Steven A. Smith and Chie T. (Aguilar-Hiroto) Smith. Jazmin grew up in Georgia and later moved to North Texas with her family.
A proud graduate of Bishop Lynch High School in Dallas, Texas, Jazmin’s journey of service and compassion began early. After high school, she worked as a dental assistant before pursuing a higher education degree in respiratory therapy from Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas. Jazmin dedicated her professional life to caring for others, most notably during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. As a respiratory therapist, she was on the front lines, often providing life-saving care during the most challenging times. Her commitment to helping others was unwavering—even as she herself underwent chemotherapy treatments. Jazmin firmly believed in putting the needs of others before her own, and her deep sense of loyalty to family, friends, and her community was evident in all she did.
Those who knew Jazmin were touched by her fiery spirit, her infectious energy, and her deep love for animals. She was known for her love of good food, particularly sushi, and her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends. Jazmin had a heart that was as fierce as it was compassionate. She was a woman who lifted others up, always putting their well-being before her own, and leaving an indelible mark on everyone who was fortunate enough to know her.
