Janie Towery passed away July 27, 2023 in Plano, Texas at the age of 87. She was born to Otis Vernon and Lucille (Mayse) Wilder on October 24, 1935 in Trenton, Texas.
After graduating high school in Trenton, she moved to the Dallas area and met her soon to be husband, Troy Towery, and they were married in April of 1956. Janie and Troy got a house in Garland and raised their children, Carrie and Ken there. Janie was a devoted mother and wife. She enjoyed painting and doing ceramics but more than anything she loved her family. From making breakfast to having a fully stocked sweets drawer and fridge for the grandkids, Janie loved taking care of her family. Janie was a part of the “Wilder hotline”- a telephone social network between her and her siblings before social networks were invented. No secrets were kept between the group.
Janie is survived by her daughter, Carrie Selby of New Bedford, Massachusetts; son, Ken Towery and wife, Heidi of McKinney, Texas; grandson, Brandon Beaver and wife, Misty of Wylie, Texas; grandson, Casey Beaver and wife, Cheyanne of Flower Mound, Texas; great grandchildren, Zechariah, Zoey, Cason, and Cali; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Troy Towery; sisters, Marie, Lois, Alma, Viola, and Melba; and brothers, Hershel, Otis Jr., Lonnie, and Billy.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 31, 2023 at Dodd City Cemetery in Dodd City, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas.
