Janet "Jan" Ellen Clark

Janet “Jan” Ellen Clark of Melissa, Texas passed away January 20, 2018 at the age of 81.  She was born December 27, 1936 to Russell Wert and Mary Minnear in Springfield, Ohio. Jan attended nursing school at St. Rita’s Catholic Hospital in Lima, Ohio. As students, she met Dick Clark at a local bar during at St. Patricks Day Celebration. They later married on December 17, 1955 in Angola, Indiana.  Jan later earned an Associate’s Degree in English and received a Floral Design Certificate from Richland College in Richardson, Texas. She was a very independent person, her independence lead her to France in 1987 as an exchange student with Collin College. Jan became the first Librarian for the City of Melissa where she worked for sixteen years. Jan’s hobbies included sewing, tennis, horses, dogs and books. She was most passionate about following the Dallas Stars and the Texas Rangers on the Radio.  She was the Tennis League President for Eldorado Country Club in McKinney, Texas. Jan loved life and learning but, adored her family most of all.

She is survived by her children, Richard Lee Clark and wife Rachel of NorthLake, Texas, Katherine Elaine Clark Kasten of Desoto, Texas, Debra Leah Henley of McKinney, Texas, Linda Anne Clark Hillman of Plano, Texas, and Lorie J. Clark of Van Alstyne, Texas; grandchildren, Eric, Kevin, Jeff, Kyle, Jenn, Russell, Jessie, Alexus and Allan; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Joyce Cramer of Daytona, Florida and Rita Earhardt of Titusville, Florida; sister-in-law, Beverly Palmer of Chicago, Illinois; and many other nieces, nephews, and friends.

Jan was preceded in death by her husband, Dick Clark (2013) and her parents
