Jane Katherine Linstrum of McKinney, Texas passed away on April 7, 2020 at the age of 86 from natural causes. She was born in Cranford, NJ on June 16, 1933 to Arthur and Katherine (Thompson) Horakh. Jane was a graduate of Cranford Senior High School and worked as a customer service representative for Bell Atlantic/Verizon during two periods of her life, accumulating 25 years of service.
After many years of living in and around Haddon Township, New Jersey, when she retired in 1994, she moved to Plano, Texas to be near her daughter’s family and to help care for her two young granddaughters. She met her husband, Dr. Tom Linstrum, at a church class, and they married in early 1996. They lived in McKinney and enjoyed their church family and fellowship class at First United Methodist Church, traveling with friends, taking painting lessons, and spending time with their families.
Jane is survived by her daughter, Linda Klein of Hillsborough, NJ; her granddaughters Kristen (Thomas) Tryon of Ridgecrest, CA and Mandy (Matt) Beerhalter of Little Egg Harbor Twp, NJ; daughter-in-law Belinda Linstrum of Cleburne, TX; daughter-in-law Karen Linstrum of Kingwood, TX; sister Lois (Bob) Gawlowski of Green Lane, PA, niece Gaylen Gawlowski of Pasadena, CA; nephew Jayson (Kathrynne) Gawlowski of Green Lane, PA; niece Debra (Patrick) Sipera of Medford Lakes, NJ; cousins Gary Thompson of Albany, NY, Peter (Kathy) Thompson of Franklin, PA, Mark (Joan) Thompson of Bernardsville, NJ, Rob (Jan) Thompson of Oberlin, OH; great-grandsons Owen and Isaac, and numerous loving friends.
Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Tom E. Linstrum, son Jeffrey T. McDaniel, son-in-law Dr. Todd E. Linstrum, brother John A. Horakh, sister-in-law Marion Horakh, uncle and aunt William and Dorthea Thompson, cousin Billy Thompson, and parents Arthur and Katherine Horakh.
Jane’s family would like to express sincere and loving gratitude to all of Jane and Tom’s home and healthcare helpers, including Fola, Roda, Marsha, and Varaidzo, long-time friend and helper Marsha Wallace, neighbors Tim, Tabetha, and Mario, and Belinda Linstrum, Stephen Pond, and Phillip and Gail Pond for their help and support, especially under these unprecedented circumstances.
Memorial donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association.
A remembrance of life service for Jane will be held at a later date.
