IN LOVING MEMORY

Jane Jetton Brown

Mar 21 1931 - Feb 23 2023

Jane Jetton Brown of Allen, Texas passed away on February 23, 2023 at the age of 91. She was born on March 21, 1931 to Willie Lawrence and Lula Susan (Baxter) Jetton at her grandparents’ homeplace in the Bloomdale Community of Collin County Texas.

Jane graduated from Westminster High School in 1948. While in high school she served as the yearbook editor, played basketball, was a school reporter and acted in the Junior-Senior play both years.  After graduation, Jane moved to Dallas and worked for the Gas Company. She married Richard Dee Brown, Sr. on August 3, 1951 in Rockwall, Texas. She moved back to Westminster, Texas and lived with Richard’s parents, Anna Lou and Pascal Brown, while Richard served in the Korean War.  Richard and Jane had three children: (Mickey) Mikki Ann, Karen Sue and Richard, Jr.  Jane‘s greatest joy came from raising and nurturing her children.  She was a talented seamstress, and would make the girls dresses when they were young. She always had a large vegetable garden, and spent many days harvesting and canning produce. Another great joy in life was cooking for her loved ones – and she was a WONDERFUL cook and baker!   She took time to educate herself and learn everything she could about food and nutrition.  In 1966, she started a career in banking and worked for Central National Bank in downtown McKinney and then numerous other financial institutions. She was a longtime dedicated member of the First United Methodist Church in Anna, Texas. Richard and Jane were married from 1951 to 1977.

In 1985 Jane moved to Austin, Texas to be closer to her family. In Austin she worked for the State of Texas until her retirement. While working for the State of Texas, she met the love of her life, Richard I. Brown, in an elevator. They married on August 25, 1990. Richard and Jane loved to travel throughout the United States in their RV. They spent lots of time together sightseeing, visiting relatives and friends, and traveling to sporting events to watch their grandchildren. Richard and Jane lived out their married lives in Austin, Lubbock, Round Rock, and McKinney, Texas.  Jane’s family was greatly blessed by her love for them.

Jane is survived by her children, Mikki Ann Brown of Bentonville, Arkansas, Karen Sue Hughes and husband, Gary of Anna, Texas, son, Richard D. Brown, Jr. and wife, Madeleine of Anna, Texas; stepchildren, Kathy Gilbert and husband, Ed of Arizona, Tim Brown and wife, Janet of Houston, Texas and Terry Brown; grandchildren, Leigh Fox (Bradley), Eric Hughes (Lauren), Beau Hughes (Kimberly), Brett Brown, Scott Brown, Jana Brown, Amy Narber (Matt), Jennifer Walls (Wayne), Rebecca Pepitone (Mark), Lisa Pepitone (Paul), Christina Brown, Jimmy Knight (Aaron); many great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and many other loving family members and friends.
