IN LOVING MEMORY

Jana Sherie Hunt

Aug 23 1969 - Jul 02 2023

With great sadness, our family would like to announce the passing of Jana Sherie Hunt on July 2, 2023 in Carrollton, Texas.

Jana was born on August 23, 1969, to Richard Sidney Hunt and Janet Ruth Meek Hunt in Dallas, Texas. She had a lovely childhood surrounded by family and friends. Many trips to Colorado, panning for gold, camping in the mountains, fishing, and beach trips to the Gulf Coast. Her dad often joked, saying, "All she needs is a hotel and a pool to be happy." She spent summer days in the pool, playing the pickle game, as she called it, and spent many weekends at the farm riding horses, golf carts, planting gardens, and feeding the cows.

She lived most of her life in Carrollton, Texas, but graduated from Denton High School, later attended Brookhaven College and business school, and chose management as her career. She was a manager for a tanning salon when she was only fifteen and continued to manage many businesses throughout her lifetime. She was awarded outstanding manager multiple times, and her career took her to many areas outside of Texas, including the World Trade Center in New York City.

Jana had a heart for people and animals. Her greatest love was her family and her puppy dogs, Cocoa, Cabossa, Molly, and Sammy. She had great concern for people that needed help. She often shopped for clothes and food for destitute people and gave them her last dime. She was full of mercy, generosity and had the gift of helping.

During her last years, she dealt with many health issues and hospital stays, but the future always encouraged her. Her family and friends will miss her immensely, and she will leave a hole in our lives, but we know that she professed Christ as her savior, and our hope through God's promises is that she is healed and whole in heaven with Jesus.

She is survived by her parents, Richard and Janet Hunt of Carrollton; sister, Carmela Mechling and husband, Darrin of Mount Juliet, Tennessee; niece, Hannah Mechling and nephew, Hunter Mechling, uncle, Charles Meek of Tom Bean; aunt and uncle, Shirley and Gordon Lanning of Carrollton; aunt Ginger Compton of Bullard, many cousins and friends.

Funeral Services will be held 10:30am Saturday, July 8, 2023 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, Whitewright, Texas. Rev. Darrin Mechling will officiate. Burial will follow at Luella Cemetery, Sherman, Texas.
