Jamie Elizabeth Shepherd

Jamie Elizabeth (Parker) Shepherd of McKinney, Texas was born on August 16, 1960 in Alamogordo, New Mexico and passed away on December 26, 2016 at her home in McKinney following a lengthy battle with cancer. She was predeceased by her father, Robert R. Parker.  She is survived by her husband, Ron Shepherd, daughter, Parker Elizabeth Shepherd, son, R.B. Shepherd, mother, Sandra Parker of Norman, Oklahoma, and her brothers, Phillip R. Parker and family of Norman, Oklahoma and Christopher E. Parker and family of Atlanta, Georgia. She is also survived by her grandmother Mary Bilbrey of Altus, Oklahoma and numerous other extended family members.

Jamie graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Nursing where she was a member of the Alpha Phi sorority.  She began her career in nursing as a critical care and trauma nurse at Parkland Hospital in Dallas. Jamie later worked as a legal nurse advisor and related positions relying on her healthcare skills. All who knew her valued her insights and work ethic. As time passed, her primary focus and passion was as a caring and loving mother devoted to her family. Jamie could be relied upon to be supporting her children at every opportunity. A vocal supporter of the McKinney Boyd volleyball, wrestling and football programs and more recently a dedicated fan of the University of Cincinnati Bearcat volleyball team.

Jamie enjoyed a long list of dear and long-time friends. All who knew Jamie will reflect on her loyal friendship and ability to bring a smile to their face. Her network of friends ran deep. Her family is thankful to the many people who offered their support and friendship throughout her life and illness. Special thanks to Dr. Akbar Rizvi and Amity Hospice for the exceptional care and professionalism shown in caring for Jamie and her family. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer any donations to be directed to Bethel Cincinnati Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 19953, Cincinnati, Ohio 45219 in Jamie’s name.

A celebration of Jamie’s life will be held at the Stonebridge United Methodist Church in McKinney, Texas on Friday, December 30, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. with a reception immediately following at the church. All friends are welcome.
