James Stephen Gatlin passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 7, 2022 in McKinney, Texas. He was born on September 7, 1951 in St. Louis, Missouri to parents, Rev. James Marion Gatlin and Faith Harriet (Badger) Gatlin.
James graduated from Greenville High School in 1970. He went on to work as an electrician. He enjoyed baseball, watching the Texas Rangers, and coached both of his children in little league, as well as many others. James loved collecting and building model trains and was an avid Texas and Pacific railway aficionado.
James married the love of his life, Threcia Gail Burnside on September 30, 1977 in Farmersville, Texas. They had two children together, James and Stephanie. He was a loving son, brother, uncle, father, and paw-paw.
He is survived by son, James Michael Gatlin and his wife Ashley Gatlin and daughter, Stephanie Scherer and her husband Davis Scherer both of Farmersville, Texas. His loving grandchildren also survive him, Emily Gail Gatlin, Haley Ann Gatlin and Jacob Kimball Scherer.
James is preceded in death by his parents, loving wife Threcia, and brother Jeff Gatlin.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at Hurst’s Fielder-Baker Funeral Home from 6-8PM. The funeral service will be held at The First United Methodist Church at 2:00 on Thursday, April 14, 2022. Rev. Ash Harmon will officiate. The burial will follow the service at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Climax, Texas.
