IN LOVING MEMORY

James (Dylan) McCarra

May 10 1961 - Dec 21 2021

James (Dylan) McCarra, age 60, went to his eternal home in heaven on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 following a courageous battle with cancer. He passed at his home in Plano, Texas surrounded by his beloved family.

Dylan was born on May 10, 1961 to Tommie and James McCarra, in Meridian, Mississippi. He received his bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from Mississippi State University and continued a successful career in commercial insurance for 37 years. On June 22, 1984, Dylan was happily married to his loving wife and high school sweetheart, Tammie. Over the next 37 years they went on many adventures and raised a daughter, Jenn and son, Chris. Dylan was most proud of his title as “Pops” when his grandchildren, Bear and Skye, were born.

In addition to spending time with his family, Dylan loved playing golf with his buddies, Mississippi State football, traveling, and hugs from his two grandchildren. Selfless, generous, and dependable are just a few traits that Dylan will be forever remembered by. His strength and example of his relationship with Christ touched everyone he encountered. He provided a light for people to follow, and his actions were a blueprint for the way things should be done.

Dylan was preceded in death by his father, James. His memory will be kept alive by his wife, Tammie, mother Tommie, children Jenn and Chris, and grandchildren Bear and Skye. He will be deeply missed, but his faith in Christ and unwavering positivity will forever live on in the hearts and minds of those around him.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, December 23, 2021 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas.  The service will be livestreamed at https://celebrationoflife.tv/blog/james-dylan-mccarra.  The family will receive friends during a visitation one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas.
