James Robert (“JR”) Ingendorf of McKinney, Texas was born on February 13, 1933 and passed away on August 11, 2021 at the age of 88. He was one of two children born to Mary Chloe and Otto Ingendorf in Harlingen, Texas.
JR grew up in the Rio Grande Valley and graduated from Harlingen High School where he was a talented football player. JR met Paula Vandervort, the new girl in town and they became high school sweethearts. They married on June 17, 1951 in Harlingen, Texas. Their love endured for almost 70 years. JR and Paula had two children Jim and Debby. They raised their children in the Valley moving from Harlingen to Corpus Christi to Austin and back again. JR always considered Harlingen his home.
He is survived by their son, Jim Ingendorf and his wife, Leslie of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren, Paul Ingendorf and wife, Jennifer of Wylie, Texas, Lea Anne Ingendorf of Fort Worth, Texas and J.D. Ingendorf of Dallas, Texas; great-grandchildren, Nate and Chris Ingendorf of Wylie, and many other loving family members and friends. JR was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Joye; his wife, Paula, and their daughter, Debby Ingendorf.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon Wednesday, August 18, 2018 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, (McKinney) Allen, Texas 75013. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park. After the funeral, guests will be invited to gather at a nearby restaurant for visitation.
