IN LOVING MEMORY

James (Jim) W. Ferguson III

Mar 12 1946 - Nov 19 2021

James (Jim) W. Ferguson, III, of McKinney, Texas, went to his eternal resting place on Friday, November 19, 2021.

Jim was born on March 12, 1946, in Ft. Worth, Texas, to Lela Adeline Johnston Ferguson and James W. Ferguson, Jr.

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother leaves behind his wife of 56 years, Charolyn; son, James Douglas Ferguson and wife, Courtney and daughter, Caroline; his daughter, Cynthia Ferguson Fagan and husband, Paul Fagan and daughters, Annabelle and Kathryn; brother, John Ferguson; sisters, Ann Ferguson Holding and Sharon Ferguson; and five nieces and two nephews.

Jim never met a stranger, and he loved his family with all his heart. He was kind and generous and made those around him feel as though each was his best friend. He was also an avid reader who never stopped learning. He was generous with his knowledge, time, and resources and provided opportunities for young adults and his employees to further their educations.

Jim was recently honored for being a Certified Public Accountant for 50 years. He was a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accounts and the Texas Association of Public Accountants. He received one of the first ten professional designations of Personal Financial Specialist in the US and earned the Certified Exit Planning Advisor designation. He was a charter member of the tax committee for The Texas Cattle Feeders Association and served on the finance committees of the various United Methodist Churches of which he was a member.

Through the years, Jim had accounting firms in Amarillo, Texas; Wichita Falls, Texas; Graham, Texas; and a consulting company in St. Croix, USVI. He co-owned Alliance Property Management in Amarillo, Texas, and was involved in various real estate ventures.

Jim worked passionately in the interests of his clients, and he sincerely cared for each one. Many have benefited from his thorough understanding of their personal and business affairs.

His was a life well-lived. He loved snow skiing, golfing, fly-fishing, deep sea fishing, traveling and entertaining – especially when sharing those experiences with family and friends.

A celebration of Jim’s life will be held early January of 2022. If you would like to honor Jim with a memorial, his favorite charities were St. Jude Children’s Hospital and the American Heart Association. Personal notes may be sent to the family, in the care of Charolyn Ferguson, at 6841 Virginia Pkwy, Ste. 103, PMB 453, McKinney, TX 75071.
