James Edwin Curry

James Edwin Curry passed away August 6, 2021 in Dallas, Texas at the age of 78. He was born on March 27, 1943 to John Thomas Curry, Sr. and Mattie Zelma Proffit in McKinney, Texas. James married Linda Ann Box on July 2, 1965 in McKinney, Texas. He was a long-time member of the New York Avenue Church of Christ in Arlington, Texas. He owned Curry’s Crane Service after working for several years with overhead crane companies. James worked as a prison minister in the Dallas County jail system and was a board member of NewLife Behavior Ministries, where he shared God’s word with inmates.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Curry of Grand Prairie, Texas; son, Monty Curry and wife, Ellen of Jasper, Georgia; daughter, Jena McDonald and husband, Mark of Talihina, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Cameron Curry of San Jose, California, CiGi Curry of Woodruff, South Carolina, and Hudson Curry of Atlanta, Georgia; brother, Robert L. Curry and wife, Maryann of Avondale, Arizona; sister-in-law, Sharon Choate and husband, Dave of Williamsburg, Virginia; sister-in-law, Betty Curry of Greenville, Texas; brother-in-law, Gilbert Box and wife, Charlotte of Amarillo, Texas; brother-in-law, Terry Box and wife, Rendy of McKinney, Texas; brother-in-law, Kyle Box and wife, Sharon of Eureka Springs, Arkansas, numerous bonus kids, and other loving relatives.

James is preceded in death by his parents, John Thomas and Zelma Curry, Sr.; brothers, John Thomas Curry, Jr. and Billy Curry; sister, Hylah Mae Ritchey; in-laws, C.G. and Doxie Box.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 14, 2021, at the New York Avenue Church of Christ, 5371 New York Avenue, Arlington, Texas 76018. **Masks will be required ** Livestream will be available for any who are unable to attend or are uncomfortable around crowds at this time https://m.youtube.com/channel/UCow1sEBVFyHrd8LDFJSD0mw
