James "Jimmy" Marshall Correu

On April 5, 2019 James "Jimmy" Marshall Correu passed away at the age of 88. He was born on February 9, 1931 to Silas and Danni "DeSpain" Correu in Laredo, Texas. Jimmy was an avid outdoorsman which included hunting and fishing. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of McKinney. His career began in newspaper at the age of 15, as a paperboy in Corpus Christi, Texas. He Soon moved into a pressman position at Corpus Christi Caller Times. He then moved into the role as president of production at the Abilene Reporter News. After many years of hard work, he then became Vice President of production at the Dallas Morning News, retiring after a very rewarding career.

Jimmy is survived by his wife, B.J. Correu of Fairview, Texas; children, Marshall Lee Correu and wife, Mildred of the Philippines; Beth Upshaw of Abilene, Texas; Cynthia Schkade and husband, Brent of Abilene, Texas; Marvin D. Correu of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Julie Kennemur of Abilene, Texas; daughter-in-law, Sharron Correu of Divide, Colorado; stepdaughter, Bronwyn Bankston of Houston, Texas; sister, Jennie Lee Correu Miles of Corpus Christi, Texas; grandchildren, James Correu, Michael Correu, Diana Correu-Cousins, David Upshaw, Kristi Schkade, Meagan Correu, Marshall Correu; step-grandchildren, Cody Connaughty and Shane Connaughty; great-grandchildren, Noelle Cousins, Avery Cousins, and Lina Dvlanski-Correu; and numerous other loving family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Silas and Dannie Correu; the mother of his children, Freddie Lee Correu; son, James Miles Correu; brothers, Melvin and Silas Correu; sisters, Mary Ethel Griggs, and Milly Fay Thompson.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon, Friday, April 12, 2019 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
