James Delmar Canon Jr.

James Delmar Canon Jr. of Highland Village, Texas passed away on October 2, 2018 at the age of 83.  He was born on June 17, 1935, to James Delmar and Hazel (Blasingame) Canon in Hillsboro, Texas.  James was a 1953 graduate of Paschal High School in Fort Worth, Texas.  In 1958, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology and was a charter member of Phi Delta Theta at Texas Christian University.  He married Lilburn Louise Langdon on November 24, 1955, in Fort Worth, Texas.  James spent 30 years working in various capacities with Texas Instruments until his retirement in 1988.  After his retirement from Texas Instruments, James worked at Decibel Products in Dallas, Texas and part-time at Elliott’s Hardware in Plano, Texas.  He was a soccer coach and sports enthusiast.  James enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors.  He was an avid landscaper and loved to travel, which included trips to Europe and the Mediterranean.   

He is survived by his son, James D. Canon III and wife, Marlene of Highland Village, Texas; grandchildren, Allison P. Canon of Richardson, Texas, Sean M. Canon of Richardson, Texas, Brenna N. Walker of Highland Village, Texas; and numerous other loving family members and friends.

James was preceded in death by his loving wife, Lilburn Louise Canon; son, Michael L. Canon; and parents, James and Hazel Canon.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 1, 2018 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas. Inurnment is to immediately follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park, Allen, Texas.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation for the care of their father at Rosewood Memory Care Facility and the Vitas Hospice Team. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org.
