James Wayne Shedd

James Shedd, age 76, of Dallas, Texas, passed away after a long battle with cancer on October 24, 2019. James was born in Celina, Texas, January 11, 1943, to Mrs. Addie Shedd. He attended Celina schools, graduating in 1961. Shortly after graduation he entered the workplace at Wesco Wamix (later known as Lone Star Industries) offices in downtown Dallas, in the data processing department. In 1964 he was drafted into the United States Army. He served his country, including a tour to Vietnam and ended his military career with an Honorable Discharge in 1966. Returning to his previous job at Lone Star he continued that career for 30 years working both in the Dallas and Houston offices, he retired in 1991.

Not being one to stay at home he returned to workforce at Aramark Uniform Service as a Route Representative 1992-2002. He then worked at Buchanan Printing 2002-2006, and retired once again. He soon learned that retirement was not so bad after all and began to travel. Many trips to Hawaii and Las Vegas to visit friends, taking cruise trips and just enjoying life. His every Saturday seemed to be a movie day as well as a member of the Dallas Summer Musicals for many years. On April 29 of 2016 he developed serious health problems and had to put some of his dreams on hold to begin his long, arduous battle with cancer.

James is survived by his sisters Barbara Schmidt and husband Gene of Denton, Bobbie Mills and husband Travis of McKinney, family friend Nic Jimenez of Dallas.

First generation of Nieces and Nephews: Connie (Ray) Jones, Ken Lair Jr., Karen (Jim) Crosby, Mike Perry, Vicki (Bud) Toler, Angie Wooley, Gary (Michele) Jackson, Jana Greenhaw. He had 22 great nieces and nephews and 26 great-great nieces and nephews. A host of friends, especially his extended family the Jimenez families of Nevada and Hawaii.

James will be remembered by his family as a gentle and kind brother, a genuine uncle and a true friend.

Preceded in death by his grandparents Calvin and Birdie Davis, mother Addie Shedd, sisters Bessie Hayles and Betty Perry, brother John Shedd, nephews Scott Jackson, Mark Perry, Johnny Shedd, and great nephew Stephen Jackson.

A funeral service will be held at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow, 2525 Central Expressway N., Allen, Texas, on Tuesday, October 29, 2019, at 12:00 noon. Family and friends are invited to a visitation prior to the service from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.  Interment will be at Cottage Hill Cemetery, 11400 FM 2478, Celina, Texas, at 1:30 p.m.
