James Warren Schollenberger of Clackamas, Oregon, formerly of Anna, Texas, passed away on September 10, 2016 at the age of 95. He was born on July 3, 1921 to James Raymond and Myrl (Stonebraker) Schollenberger in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. As a young man, Jim came to Texas where he met and married Lela Shaw. He proudly served his country in World War II as a Captain in the United States Army Air Corp, commanding a base in the Pacific theater, receiving numerous commendations. The majority of his business career was spent in banking and finance, serving in executive capacities, including Chairman and CEO in both Dallas and Collin County. His passions, outside of work, were ranching and golf. Jim owned ranches in both Collin County and Southern Oklahoma. He was a loving husband and father and loyal friend to many. Jim was a dedicated member and Deacon of First Christian Church in Anna, Texas, as well as other churches prior to that.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Lela.
He is survived by his son, Donald Schollenberger of Evanston, Illinois; daughter, Jan Schollenberger of Happy Valley, Oregon; grandson, James Hull of Portland, Oregon; and cousin, Joanne Noble of Oceanside, California.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 17, 2016, at First Christian Church in Anna, Texas. Interment will follow at City Cemetery in Sulphur Springs, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation from 5:00 –7:00 p.m. Friday evening at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.
