James Troy Mangum

James Troy Mangum, age 80, of Blue Ridge, Texas, passed away on February 21, 2017.  He was born November 7, 1936 in Melissa, Texas to WW and Emily Mangum.  James came from a long line of brick masons, but spent most of his career at Texas Instruments; he helped design some of the original missile systems for NASA.  He was a passionate sports fan.  James was a member of First Baptist Church in Melissa, where he used to be active with the youth.

He is survived by his wife, Faye Mangum; children, Kathy Williams and husband Tra of Farmersville, Texas, Brent Mangum of Melissa, Texas, Bonnie Rollins of McKinney, Texas, Jimmy Butler of Red Springs, Texas, Jeff Butler and wife Kim of Tyler, Texas, Scott Butler and wife Cindy of Blue Ridge, Texas; twelve grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

James is preceded in death by his parents, WW and Emily Mangum; brothers, Willie and Wesley Mangum; sisters, Jessie Faye Robertson and Marie Ketner.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Melissa Cemetery.  The family will receive friends during a visitation, being held from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., Friday evening at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.
