James "Tommy" Fort

November 28, 1943 - February 11, 2021

James “Tommy” Fort of Princeton, Texas passed away February 11, 2021 at the age of 77.  He was born on November 28, 1943 to Clarence Osborne Fort and Dorothy Janette (Fraze) Fort in McKinney, Texas.  Tommy married Linda Kay Judd on July 14, 1963 in Culleoka, Texas.  He worked in construction for many years.  Tommy enjoyed travel and could fix anything mechanical.  He also enjoyed coaching his kids.  Tommy loved to refurbish and collect antique cars.  He most loved his family.  Tommy was a member of Culleoka Baptist Church.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Linda K. Fort of Princeton, Texas; daughters, Tammy Purser of Leonard, Texas and Sherry Sturgal and husband, Greg of Carmi, Illinois; son, Danny Fort and wife, Kimberly of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren, Brian Purser and wife, Jennifer of Blue Ridge, Texas, Steven Purser and wife, Shay of Blue Ridge, Texas, Tommy Purser of Anna, Texas, Justin Strickland and wife, Valerie of Van Alstyne, Texas, Cody Strickland and wife, Sara of Dallas, Texas, Callie Sturgal of Carmi, Illinois, and Derek Fort and wife, Lauren of Lone Oak, Texas; great-grandchildren, Bryant, Jace, Steven, Stetson, Bo, Tilly, Kylee, Kadyn, and Lela; sisters, Barbara Thomas of Princeton, Janette Hodge and husband, Lon of Wylie, Texas, Sue Hundley and husband, Jim of Wylie, Texas, and Peggy Colbert and husband, Gerald of Calhoun, Georgie; and a host of other loving family and friends.

Tommy was preceded in death by his parents.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, February 22, 2021 at Ridgeview Memorial Park, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.

In support of our local, state, and federal government including CDC directives and to protect the physical health, safety and well-being of our community, the following are Ridgeview Memorial Parks guidelines. Anyone attending the Graveside Service is to maintain social distancing or may remain in their vehicle. You will be able to listen through speakers set up at the site.
