James Thomas Green left this world to be with the Lord on November 21, 2023 in Plano, Texas after a brief illness. He was born April 6, 1944 in Monroe, Louisiana to Newell L. Green and Carolyn (Minor) Green.
Jim was a true Louisiana man. He loved duck hunting and spicey food! After high school, not sure what to do in life, enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He served honorably for four years. After his duty in Okinawa, Japan, he was deployed to Vietnam where he completed his tour and returned home Christmas 1968 to the music “Little Drummer Boy” playing over the transport planes public address. Now ready to complete his education, Jim entered Northeast Louisiana University and obtained his B.S. in building construction in only 3 years and frequently on the dean's list. That began his construction career.
Jim and Barb met while both working for the same general contractor in Dallas and the sparks flew. Two years later, they were married and were devoted to each other for forty-six years. They had a prosperous life and traveled to many lovely beach locations which were their favorite.
Jim was truly unique. His calm demeanor, no matter what the storm, always helped everyone stay focused. Steadfast in his ethics and mentor to many in the construction industry. He will be dearly missed.
Jim is survived by his loving soul mate of forty-six years, Barbara Green of Plano Texas; cousins, Mitzi Harrist (James) of West Monroe, Louisiana, Paul Taylor (Mary Therese) of Clarence Center, New York; nephew, James Nelson Taylor (Barbara) of Spring, Texas; nieces, Laura Taylor (Mark) of Reston, Virginia and Anne Newman (Tyler) of Chantilly, Virginia. He also had three loving great- nephews, Tiger Newman, Phoenix Newman and Michael Grove.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Newell and Carolyn Green, and brother, Terry M. Green.
