James “Jim” Thomas Buchenau passed away March 30, 2023 in Plano, Texas at the age of 76. He was born to Harry Theodore and Harriet (Moyer) Buchenau on November 19, 1946 in Denver, Colorado.
Jim graduated in 1965 from Highland Park High School and afterwards attended Texas Tech University, where he was a proud member of the Sigma Chi fraternity. He courageously served his country in the United States Army where he was a member of the Airborne Division during the Vietnam War. Jim later earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of North Texas. He worked for Texas Instruments as a supervisor for 25 years and most recently worked at ACS as a Senior Project Manager. Jim was involved in graduate work at UT Dallas in physics, was an educational lifelong learner, enjoyed astronomy and was an avid gardener. He was a strong generous Christian who thought of others over himself. Jim had a brilliant mind and could fix anything. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas where he sang in the choir. Jim also attended First Baptist Church, Richardson, Texas where he was a member of the Friends Class.
Jim was preceded in death by his nephew, Danny Zimmerman. He was survived by his sister, Victoria Zimmerman of Plano, Texas; niece, Wendy Karter; and grandniece, Nicolette Peters and husband, Jeff. Jim was loved and appreciated by the members of Patricia Anderson’s family including Cindy, Cheryl Ann, and Michelle. He will be greatly missed by many of his longtime friends.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
