James Clarence Stewart, Jr.

James Clarence Stewart, Jr., age 84, of McKinney, Texas, passed away November 21, 2011 in McKinney. James was born July 23, 1927, in McKinney, Texas, to James C. and Cleo (Jetton) Stewart. He married Marilyn Nall on May 29, 1954, in McKinney. James was a long time member of First Baptist Church of McKinney. James was a 1949 graduate of North Texas State University, where he studied business and was a member of the Trojan Fraternity. Upon graduation, he worked for his father’s Central National Bank and for all successor banks. James was the Executive Vice President of Business Development for Independent Bank of McKinney. Banking ran in his family. He was the son of the president of Central National Bank of McKinney and the grandson of the owner of Continental Bank & Trust Company of Blue Ridge. He had a passion for raising his family in a small town environment and was heavily involved in many community organizations including the Lions Club, City Council and a former president of Chamber of Commerce. He loved his family, his friends, his church, and he loved McKinney. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; daughter Lyn Heard and husband, David of NYC, NY; sons Jim Stewart of White Deer, Texas and Bill Stewart and wife, Melanie of McKinney; grandson Brandon James Stewart and wife, Melissa of Rockwall, Texas; granddaughter Samantha Alexander and husband, Deke of Aubrey, Texas; great grandchildren Collin Stewart, Berklee Stewart, and Kennedy Alexander. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 23, 2011, at First Baptist Church in McKinney, Texas. Interment will follow at Pecan Grove Cemetery in McKinney. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of McKinney Building Fund.
