On the early evening of March 28, 2023, James Stephens Livingstone passed away peacefully at the age of 70. Jim was born to James Taylor Livingstone and Elizabeth Neel Livingstone on May 2, 1952. He attended Battle Ground Academy High School in Franklin, Tennessee. Jim graduated from the University of Alabama with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1974. He began his career with Monsanto, worked around the world in 37 different countries with Mobil Oil and then completed his career with Exxon-Mobil. After his retirement in 2008, he did consulting work until 2014.
Jim enjoyed golf and coaching baseball in his younger years. His true love was fishing in Canada with his son and close male friends. He would spend months preparing for his fishing trips selecting the perfect lures, lines and rods. Since 2014, he enjoyed building balsa wood WWII model airplanes. In recent years, Jim served as President of The Prosper Historical Society.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents, James Taylor Livingstone and Elizabeth Neel Livingstone. He is survived by his loving wife, Jean J. Livingstone, whom he married on May 19, 1973. He is survived by his son, Robert Brian Livingstone, daughter-in-law, Jaclyn Sontag Livingstone, daughter, Catherine L. Collins, son-in-law, Dean P. Collins, granddaughters, Kate Elizabeth Collins and Hailey Claire Collins. He is also survived by his sister, Elizabeth Roberts, nephew, Dr. Neel Roberts, both of whom reside in Decatur, Alabama, and nephew Taylor Roberts, of Hartselle, Alabama. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Redford, nephew, Matthew Thomas Redford, niece, Margaret Elizabeth Redford and nephew, William Benjamin Redford, all of whom reside in Franklin, Tennessee.
Visitation will be on Monday, April 3, 2023, from 3:00 to 5:00 pm at Berkshire Chapel, 9073 Berkshire Drive, Frisco, Texas. The funeral will be held at St. Andrew Methodist Church, 5801 W. Plano Pkwy., Plano, Texas, on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at 11:00 am. A brief graveside service will follow at Cottage Hill Cemetery in Celina, Texas.
