James Patrick Murphy was born June 29, 1927 in Whitewright, Texas to James Virgil Murphy and Ora Claborn Murphy. He married Patsy Ann Pannell on July 10, 1949 in McKinney, Texas. He died peacefully at his home in Whitewright on December 11, 2018.

Pat was a graduate of Whitewright High School and served his nation in the U.S. Army. He worked at the V.A. in Bonham for over 35 years. He and Patsy owned and operated Murphy Antiques in Whitewright for many years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Whitewright.

He is survived by daughters, Marjorie Pokorny of Whitewright and Polly Forrester of Oklahoma; grandchildren, Ben Ricks and Shelia Miller; 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Patsy Murphy.

An private interment was held 1:00 PM, December 13, 2018 at Oak Hill Cemetery, Whitewright, Texas.
