James “Jim” Morgan Atchley

James “Jim” Morgan Atchley of Keller, Texas passed away February 27, 2023 at the age of 90. He was born on October 18, 1932 to James Andrew Atchley and Ona (Morgan) Atchley in Troy, Texas. Jim served his country proudly in the United States Air Force and was a proud graduate of Baylor University.

Jim married the late Helen Louise Atchley on August 13, 1954 in Moody, Texas and, after Helen’s death Jim married Margaret Fowler Atchley, who also preceded him in death. Jim was dedicated to following Jesus Christ and he spent much of his spare time serving his various local churches as a Bible class teacher, deacon and elder. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Jim will be missed dearly by those who knew and loved him.

Most of Jim’s professional career was spent working for Sears, specializing in the operations of the catalogue division. He and Helen moved with the company to locations like Albuquerque, Wheaton, Dallas, Atlanta, and, finally back to the Chicago area where Jim spent the last years of his working life in the Sears Tower.

After retiring, Jim spent the next two decades playing golf and volunteering his time as an elder at his church and serving the board of a local Christian school in McKinney, Texas.

He is survived by his sons, Rick Atchley and wife, Jamie of Keller, Texas and Mark Atchley and wife, Debbie of Grapevine, Texas; grandsons, Michael Atchley of Fort Worth, Texas, Matt Atchley and wife, Jill of Richardson, Texas, and John Mark Atchley and wife, Marie of West Palm Beach, Florida; granddaughters, Morgan Hamilton and husband, Grant of Haltom City, Texas, Jennifer Atchley of Grapevine, Texas, and Jana Lambro and husband, Matt of Dallas, Texas; several great-grandchildren; and a host of other loving family and friends.

Jim was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen Atchley; second wife, Margaret Atchley; parents; James and Ona Atchley; and brother, Dan Atchley.

A celebration of life service will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 18, 2023 at the Keller Campus of The Hills Church of Christ, 2525 Florence Road, Keller, Texas 76262. Visitation with the family will be at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service.

Jim will be interred in Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas.
