IN LOVING MEMORY

James "Jim" Marshall Belew

Oct 19 1949 - May 08 2025

James “Jim” Marshall Belew, 75, of Addison, Texas, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2025. He was born on October 19, 1949, in Kerrville, Texas, to Marshall William Belew and Ruby Alice (King) Belew. Jim lived a life defined by faith, dedication, and strong leadership.

Jim spent his formative years in Big Spring, Texas, where he graduated from Big Spring High School in 1968. During his youth, on April 2, 1966; he made the most important decision of his life—accepting Christ as his Savior. That same year, he joined Trinity Baptist Church in Big Spring, where his spiritual foundation took root.

In pursuit of education and the ministry; Jim moved to Arlington, Texas, in 1968 to attend Arlington Baptist College. While studying, he worked diligently to support himself—first at Gibson's Department Store and later at Safeway Stores; where he remained employed from 1968 to 1997. He earned his Bachelor's Science degree in elementary education in 1977; a testament to his determination and work ethic.

Jim married Karen Rice in 1970, and together they welcomed their son, James Rodney “J.R.” Belew, in 1972. Even where distance put him and his beloved son apart, they maintained continual contact and shared a love of family, humor, and professional sports throughout the years.

In 1978, Jim married Vickie Williams Barron and embraced the role of a father to Vickie’s daughter, Lee Barron; raising her with steadfast love and commitment. That same year, the family settled in Grand Prairie, Texas, beginning a new chapter of both personal and professional growth.

Jim's professional life was marked by decades of leadership in the technology and service industries. He began with Coca-Cola’s Food Division, then moved into the computer technology field with operations management roles at Sweda International, Unigate PLC, and Micros, Inc. His work took him across North America, specializing in point-of-sale systems and support for restaurants and retail. In 1996, he and Vickie moved to Addison, Texas, where he later held positions with Electro Rent Corp. and Mediware Information Systems, focusing on healthcare data solutions. Jim retired around 2014 after a long and fulfilling career.

Throughout his life, Jim was known for his unshakable integrity, dry wit and unwavering love for his family and for his many long-time friends. Whether playing golf each week with his Richardson Senior League friends; singing in the choir of his church; hiking and exploring with his Geezer guys; or joining in the Game Night shenanigans with his beloved Friendily; Jim was a man of deep faith, quiet strength and enduring loyalty.

He is survived by his wife Vickie Belew of Addison, Texas; son, James (JR) Belew and wife, Stacy of Kansas City, Missouri; daughter, Lee Barron of Josephine, Texas; grandchildren: Braden Belew; Faith Brazil; Kenna Belew; and Casen Belew; great grandchildren, Alessa Brazil and Drake Lacy; and a host of other loving family and beloved friends.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents Marshall and Ruby Belew.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 27, 2025, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the charity of your choice.
