James Edward Taylor of Plano, Texas passed away on August 1, 2016 at the age of 91. He was born on June 23, 1925 to John David and Cora Emeline (Hale) Taylor in Carrollton, Mississippi. James married Christine Parker on December 13, 1953 in McHenry, Mississippi. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. James spent most of his career in the forestry industry. He was a member of Perryville Baptist Church in McHenry, Mississippi, 1959-1998. During this time, he served as a Deacon, Sunday school teacher, treasurer and on numerous committees. He became a member of Meadows Baptist Church on February 14, 1998, and was an active Deacon until 2010, when he became inactive due to illness.
James is survived by his loving wife, Christine Parker Taylor of Plano; daughters, Cindy Taylor Schulz of Allen, Jackie Taylor Lott and husband Ken of Garland; grandchildren, Emmy Lott Stricker and husband Burl of Hobart, Oklahoma, Cassidy Schulz Brush and husband Doug of Brooklyn, New York, Mandy Schulz McKenzie and husband Scott of Arlington, Simon Lott and wife Jen of Sequin; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Kenzie, Tyler and Cortlend Stricker, Lucy Brush, Peyton and Aiden McKenzie, Kayle, Mason and Ella Lott; brothers, Billy Taylor and wife Fern of Ashland, Oregon, Bobby Taylor of McComb, Mississippi; sister, Sue Powell of St. Francisville, Louisiana; and numerous other loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Lavada Odom; his brothers, Nelson, A.C. and Wilton Taylor; and son-in-law, Herman Schulz, Jr.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 5, 2016 at Meadows Baptist Church, 3001 Los Rios Blvd., Plano, Texas 75074. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Thursday evening, August 4, 2016 from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen. A reception will follow the interment at Meadows Baptist Church.
