IN LOVING MEMORY

James Earl Johnson

A TIME TO BE BORN: On July 7, 1952, a rare jewel was born to Dorothy Mae (Poole) Johnson and Frank Johnson Sr. in Scooba, Mississippi who and was named James Earl Johnson.  A family that instilled in him integrity, hard work and maintaining Godly values that would allow him to journey confidently into his dreams and goals.

A TIME TO PLANT: James received his formal education at Howard Elementary, Mitchell Middle School, and graduated from Washington Park High School in Racine, Wisconsin.  He was notably athletic from an early age, playing football, basketball, and participating in track and field. James earned his Bachelor's Degree in Computer Software Engineering from LaCrosse University; now known as University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse in 1975 where he also served as Class President.

HIS DEVOTION TO GOD: James accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and was baptized at the age of eight years.

In 1993, James relocated from Wisconsin to Dallas, Texas with his employer J.C. Penney. He and his family made their residence in McKinney, Texas, where the family found a new church home at Eternity Community Church.

He and his wife have faithfully served for 30 years as founding members. During his thirty years, he served as Chairman of the Deacon Board; Men's Bible Study Teacher, Guitarist; Choir member; Maintenance Personnel and wherever he was needed in the E.C.C. Ministry.

A TIME TO LOVE: In 1977, James met Seberina Wilder and were unity in Holy Matrimony on July 21. 1979 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Their union lasted forty-four years. Their union was completed with the addition of Jerrell Christopher Johnson.

HIS PROFESSIONAL JOURNEY: James was employed with J.C. Penney as a Computer Software Engineer for 37 years.

In his leisure time, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends playing games and crossword puzzles.  James loved music and playing the guitar. He was always calm and quiet and could warm even the coldest heart with a smile.  James was steadfast in his faith in Christ and diligent in serving in the ministerial endeavors of Eternity Community Church in Frisco, Texas.

He was a loving husband; father; brother, uncle; grandfather and friend.  James will be missed dearly by those who knew and loved him.

A TIME TO REFLECT: He leaves to cherish his memories his beloved wife of forty-four years, Seberina Johnson of McKinney, Texas, son, Jerrell Johnson (Erica) of Hayward, California; granddaughters, Brielle Johnson and Sonora Johnson, both of Hayward, California; brothers, Alroy Johnson of Racine, Wisconsin, Frank Johnson, Jr. of Madison, Wisconsin, and Gregory Johnson of Chicago, Illinois; sister, Beverly Griffin (Ronald) of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; sisters-in-law, Robin R. Johnson (Richard) and Demetria L. Easter, both of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; brothers-in-law, Tyrone Easter and Larry Easter, also of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and cohorts.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy and Frank Johnson, Sr., Lucille Easter (mother-in-law), Lydell Easter (brother-in-law), and Sawanda Kaye Knox (sister-in-law).

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 2, 2023 at Eternity Community Church, 12550 Independence Parkway, Frisco, Texas 75035.

The family will receive friends during a visitation on Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.
